Goalkeepers in football is a very important position, the goalkeeper is the only one playing in front of goal, and plays an important role in the game. They act as the defenders in front of the goalkeepers and they stop the opposing team from scoring. If the keeper fails to do so then the whole defense will collapse, this failure of the keeper will give the attackers free chances to score goals. Gianluigi Buffon is the most expensive of the goalkeepers in football with a estimated worth of more than nine million pounds. This Italian football player is at the top of the list due to the many records which he holds including the most appearances made for the club, the highest goal scored and the oldest player to appear for a Italian club when he made his debut in 1983. Unlike the other goalkeepers in bbc football, Buffon has not been tempted into signing a contract to move to another team and is still in the same position which he started his playing football at. The Italian goalkeeper prefers to play on the left side of defence and has been used primarily as a goalkeeper during his time with AC Milan. The thirty year old has a natural ability to stop the shots which have been firing from the right side of the field.
Norwich City's Jacob Murphy is another one of the promising young goalkeepers in football and is currently the third highest paid goalkeeper in the Premier League. The Scotland international has impressed with his performances for the club and has established himself as a solid goalkeeper who is excellent at preventing the opposition from scoring goals. He has faced some tough challenges in the Prema League including Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion this season where he has come out on top. The thirty year old Scotland international is at the age where he can start to slow down a little though he feels that his experience and playing ability is not yet at its peak. His partnership with defender John Ruddy has been working well lately and the pair have formed a superb partnership which is expected to continue to work well into the future. The thirty year old has maintained a high level of fitness throughout the season and is now fit enough to start training with the rest of the team once pre-season breaks have begun.
Out of all of the goalkeepers in football, it has to be left to the Manchester United trio of Robert Houlds, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling to represent the Blues in the years to come. The United States national team has produced some great young players in recent years and the trio of Jones, Houlds and captain David Beckham are the favorites of many Americans who support the club. The trio has been given a new lease on life by coach Louis van Gaal who has put them in the position to succeed this season. Injuries to injured players such as Beckham and Jones have not been an issue thus far and they have looked fully committed to the club and its cause so far. With the likes of Ashley Cole and Jonny Evans already on the team, the chances of the trio winning the MLS title are looking extremely optimistic.
